DESCRIPTION:Before Sherlock Holmes\, Miss Marple\, or Philip Marlowe captured the world’s imagination\, writers had to invent the literary detective\, whose eccentric personality and unpredictable actions have led to the genre’s remarkable popularity\, adaptability\, and longevity.
